DOES THIS ANGER ANYONE ELSE?
Question by Andrew: DOES THIS ANGER ANYONE ELSE?
This is a big venting post for me, but there is so much in this world that is just so wrong. Firstly the government(US)/lifestyle, gender roles and expectations and religion.
Currently in the US, we have a government full of leaders and law makers elected by the people, to help the people who are there for nothing but self gain. We currently live in a society where the government controls everything. They control how much we have to pay them to live in the country, what we can legally put in our bodies(I don’t do drugs), but any drug or medicine that doesn’t affect anyone but the user should be indefinitely legalized. We live in a society where everything is materialized. Everyone wants the new iphone(including myself) without any care for anyone else. A third of the world lives off of less than a dollar a day and we whine when we don’t have enough money for a more expensive car. Guess what, if you have a working car there is no need to complain. You are considered privileged by most of the world.
As far as gender roles go, look at the average relationship, I realize they aren’t all like this. The guy pays for most of the meals, has to buy her material goods, jewelry, etc. and has to “win her over”. It’s never the girl trying to win the guys heart, because guys are much more relaxed and easy going about relationships. When a guy makes a big mistake in a relationship the girl then precedes to pretend he hasn’t been there for her for the last several months and paying for her meals and dumps him immediately(i’m not talking about cheating), but when a girl makes a big mistake the guy usually overlooks it though may not be happy about it.
Further into gender roles, there are feminists. They are man haters in disguise as activists. Women currently are more privileged in society currently. Who wins most custody cases? Women. If a man sees a women undressing in her bed room, who is arrested? The man for being a peeping tom. If a woman sees a man undressing in his bed room, who is arrested? The man for indecent exposure. If a woman commits domestic violence against a man will the police take it seriously? Not in most cases. The list goes on. Feminists then fire back that woman make less which has been proven to be an inflated stat and I do agree both genders should(and do) make the same salary. They are just lobbying for female leaning laws. An interesting fact is breast cancer funds in the US get twice as much government funding as prostate cancer though roughly the same amount of people get it and it kills the same number of people every year.
Don’t get me wrong, some of my best friends, including my girlfriend are, well, girls, and by no means do I dislike or look down on them, society just p*sses me off.
I am an atheist and that will not change. You can not change me and I will not try to change you. I have no problem with people believe it in a higher power, but when people think it should be imposed(in public schools especially) on others who don’t believe. I think state and church should be separated. Not everyone is the same religion and about 30% of people are atheist so to make one religion or a few religions imposed on people is down right unconstitutional. Orthodox Catholics are the worst of these. They think everyone should believe in god and jesus, and that they are undoubtedly right.
Sorry for ranting, post opinions of my views please.
Thanks
@Nighthaw… – Thanks for your response. About religion please realize that no religion is school is not infringing on Christianity. If you are going to make the evolution argument, realize this. Evolution is a scientific theory, meaning it is not proven(obviously) but does have large sums of scientific evidence, and it is taught as such. It is taught as a possibility. Not the one and only way we came to be. On the other hand something like creationism does not have very much credibility. It has been proven that, on average, after 4 years of inbreeding(adam & eve) that infertility is caused. This rules out the possibility of creationism to a nearly certain extent. In a freshman history class I took in high school called global issues, I learned brief information about all major religions, so it is not like there is no religious representation at all.

Your views on feminism and gender roles seem fairly accurate.
If your view of prayer in school is that it is equivelant to having religious views rammed down your throat, then is not the absence of prayer in school the equivelant of atheistic views being rammed down the throats of the Christian kids? My belief is that prayer should be allowed in schools but on a voluntary basis, and if you don’t want to participate then don’t.
