Those who have known addicts…Do drug addicts make plans and not show up? Also, those who have learned their loved one is an addict, can u please share the awkward/unsual or addict behavior you discovered?

Yes, they do and they are usually moody and broke most of the time, unless they are wealthy.

Yes, definitely. I think from time to time people who are not addicts can miss events (sometimes depression makes people withdraw from social situations too) but when they start missing important events like their grandmother’s birthday or their parents’ marriage vow renewal party where they were expected to give a speech, then it does raise some eyebrows. The big thing for me is missing events in combination of unexplainable weird external features. I have never done drugs so this might be all in my head, but I would see them “change” – for example, they would start popping weird warts out of their skin, or get extremely pale or extremely skinny, sometimes their eyes look teary and glossy at the same time (it’s hard to explain), and sometimes you see this really dark circles under their eyes. The color of their skin changes, and so do their postures. Not one person exhibits all of these “changes” (maybe different drugs cause different effects?) but you do notice some weird changes.

Some of them would also start telling me weird stories as if they were absolute truth. For example, this one guy I knew was deadly convinced that his aunt was his lover. A few months later he was getting treated for drugs addiction.
